She perfected her craft while listening to guitarists whom she considers her greatest mentors - Nancy Wilson of Heart, Caroline Aiken, and Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls. Ronnda says, "I wouldn't be the player I am today if it were not for these strong and amazing women. I hope to bring my own voice to the generations of women musicians who follow."

Next Week's Events will be:

Tuesday, September 15th, Lecture Series.  Haragano. Mabon the Autumn Equinox
Pagen Elder Haragano will discuss Mabon-the Autumn Equinox which equally divides the day and night. Mabon is a celebration where we may pause and take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year's crops. The Druids call this celebration Mea'n Fo'mhair which honors the Green Man; libations of cider, wine, herbs, and fertilizer are offered to trees during this sacred time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth.   When celebrating this holy day, it is appropriate to wear all of your finery, and dine lavishly with friends and family as preparations are made for the year's end which will be celebrated at Samhain. Now is the time to finish old business and prepare for a period of rest, relaxation, and reflection.

Thursday, September 17th, Astrology chat and coffee with Amy Herring 7:30pm-9pm

Friday, September 18th, Open Mic hosted by Ronnda Cadle and Go Girls Music Network Meetup

Saturday, September 19th, Live Music-Tamara Lewis Singer/songwriter, Tamara Lewis, drops the filters that we live with every day and stands alone in her songs. She writes primarily in a contemporary folk style with country and blues influences. Her voice is comforting, crystalline, powerful and guileless. As a performer, Tamara is both engaging and incandescent and unquestionably leaves a mark on the audience from opening note to last.

Luke, a singer/songwriter/guitarist, writes music that he identifies as pop rock, but acknowledges that musical influences from other styles have definitely impacted his style.  Many of the songs on his debut album have been works-in-progress for almost a decade.  Initially, he wrote several of the songs when he was in high school, but noted that as he got older, the songs evolved, changed and matured.  Songs that had been aggressive and hard rock style at their inception mellowed; the angst was tempered, lyrics were changed, removed, or added to-until finally, the songs on this album represent his current style.

“The Heart of the Soul” written by Gary Zukav and Linda Francis
In the book “The Heart of the Soul,” authors Gary Zukav and Linda Francis state, “We are all students in the Earth school, and the time has come to create a whole new lesson plan. For thousands of years we were outwardly focused, as we mastered the tasks of cultivating food and building shelter. Unfortunately, we are still outwardly fixated, obsessively accumulating more wealth, material objects, and power.  What enabled our species to survive so long is now bad medicine. In fact, it is poison." According to Zukav and Francis, the remedy to this disease the discovery of an inward focus, in which we cultivate the heart and live in alignment with our souls.

Lecture Series,
Sandy Levey-Lunden, "The Clearing Process™"
7pm to 9pm
The Clearing Process™ creates a unique space where a person can finally release their past traumas, limiting beliefs and patterns, fears, and ego mind that may be consciously or unconsciously affecting the present.
These unacknowledged and unresolved issues do not disappear; rather they reappear in a variety of forms within our current relationships. In order to truly connect fully with one another, we need to momentarily drop our ego boundaries and allow the light of our True Selves to shine through.
Sandy Levey-Lunden was born and raised in New York City, Sandy studied psychology, receiving her Bachelors Degree from the City College of New York. For many years she taught children with learning disabilities as she was gaining her Masters Degree in Special Education.
In 1982, she established her business, "On Purpose", working with thousands of people to clarify their purpose in life, and create a business or career from what they love to do. She has designed in-depth courses and seminars focused on pursuing and achieving successful careers and relationships and personal freedom.
Sandy's study of A Course in Miracles* in 1990 brought new spiritual insight to every area of her life, and deepened her understanding of the path to happiness. She went boldly in pursuit of her dreams, leading workshops around the world and creating programs to help troubled youth. $5.00 suggested donation for this event

Luke Grey
7pm to 9pm
www.myspace.com/lukegreymusic
Rock / Acoustic / Pop
Luke is a local singer and songwriter; with roots in Marysville, Everett, and downtown Snohomish, he considers Snohomish County his home base.
Luke started playing guitar in 2000 and has been writing songs since then. In addition to singing and guitar playing, Luke plays the drums, bass guitar and keyboards. He says that his musical style is generally pop rock with blues, jazz and country influences and credits many influential musicians as role models. He specifically cited three musicians as impacting his musical journey. Eddie Vedder, lead singer and guitarist for Pearl Jam, was a role model for his songwriting and vocal style. Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac had a huge influence upon his guitar playing. Carter Beauford of the Dave Mathews band is his idea of the perfect drummer. Luke also credited his father, a sound technician, as influencing and supporting his musical development.
So far, Luke has limited his solo public performances to A Gathering Grove because he enjoys the family-friendly nature of the venue. Last fall, he showed up at a Friday night open mic night and, after playing a few of his songs, was booked to perform on a Saturday night. Since then, Luke appeared at A Gathering Grove a few times-twice as a solo artist, once with a friend out of California, and once with his band, Tin Sprocket.
In the future, Luke hopes to quit his day job as a maintenance man at an apartment complex so he can pursue the music business full-time. In regards to music, he said that, " the one thing I feel I can do right. so natural to me, writing and playing."
Currently, Luke is in the middle of putting together his first solo album. The album is titled, "Life of the Party." The title is meant to be humorous; the CD's cover art consists of a photo taken by Luke's father, Robert Olver, with Luke sitting in front of the Rucker Tomb in the Evergreen Cemetery on 41st Street in Everett. He hopes to release his debut album in early summer.
In addition to being a solo artist, Luke is also a member of Tin Sprocket which plays pop rock. In 2006, Tin Sprocket released a self titled album, and in 2008 they released a second album titled, "Out of the Blue."

Lecture Series,
Haragano "Summer Solstice"
7pm to 9pm
Respected Pagan Elder Haragano will present the fifth in a series of lectures entitled The Wheel of the Year. The Wheel of the Year is the greatest of all Teachers. Each of us is born somewhere on it and as we spiral through it on our life's journey, our understandings deepen. This series of lectures draws on history and folklore to highlight the rich context of each of the eight major pagan holidays. Each lecture is given at the time of the year in which each holiday is set to assist in developing a personal understanding of each of the celebrations. Even if you miss a lecture you can still attend the series, while each lecture does build on the last one, they are also independent of each other.
The term solstice can also be used in a wider sense, as the date (day) that such a passage happens. The solstices, together with the equinoxes, are connected with the seasons. In some languages they are considered to start or separate the seasons; in others they are considered to be centre points (in English, in the Northern hemisphere, for example, the period around the June solstice is known as midsummer, and Midsummer's Day is the 24 June, about three days after the solstice itself). Many cultures celebrate the summer solstice, for the June solstice; Christian cultures celebrate the feast of St. John from June 23 to June 24 while Neopagans observe Midsummer.

"Karma and Universal Laws"
The purpose of this class is to help you learn universal law so you can clear karma. Ok...that sounds like a big statement, but it's actually what we're going to do. The premise is fairly simple. You, as a human being, have karma. It's needed to bind your spirit to your body. Your ego is not a bad thing, but a container to hold your perception of life, and therefore your karma. What you put in that container depends on what kind of karma you have and how much. Either way, it can be cleared. Clearing karma allows you to "make room" in your ego container for light. By understanding how universal laws work within the life cycle and your psyche, you can circumvent karma and clear it.  Sound easy?? It is... and it isn't. Like all things, it's hard at first because you don't know how to do it. Everything is easy once you know how. I'm going to show you how. Interested???
Boston has let me know that this class is now full, for more information of future classes please send an email to Boston at http://www.nowageknowledge.com/ with a request about future classes.

I started playing acoustic guitar at 14. I developed a style that continues to this day. I went to a lot of live music in the mid 70's. The light bulb went off at a grateful dead show in '78 at cap center I moved to New Orleans, and played music on the street. Making my living this way made me a very audience savvy performer. I decided on a lark to move to Montana to drive a truck for Glacier Park Inc. I lived there 4 years and learned to climb mountains and ride horses. I played in the lodge on Wednesday and Sunday nights. A radical departure but it PAYED!!! No originals yet! I met a wonderful girl there named Sharon, from Massachusetts; we hit it off and were married in '93. In '95 we moved to Redmond, Washington. Soon we got a house of our own in Monroe. I didn't play very much in this period. Just around the house and on the porch. In September, after my B- day, 2008, recovering from a battle with alcohol, I went on the wagon, AND started writing my own songs. I soon decided to shift my whole focus to writing songs and performing them. I've had some great success and have a radio ready CD out and I can't wait to do another. To all my old friends I say thanks for putting up with me all these years. To my new friends, peace, love, and hope. My dream was always to be a singer/songwriter and now I'm that. If I go no farther, I'm OK with it, my dream still came true...... Find your passion and don't give up!!!!!!!!! CHEERS, MARK

Chris Bendt pushes the singer-songwriter envelope by writing about anything
and everything occurring in his ever tumultuous life in the City of Broken
Dreams, Los Angeles, California. Bendt tries to capture the spirit of his
internal struggle for freedom from the politics of the corporate world, his
father's expectations, and abandonment by the love of his life, while
grappling with loneliness and questioning the presence of a higher being. He
beautifully captures the internal and external struggles Bendt encouters
with straightforward lyrics and scattered innuendoes expressing universal
topics.
In addition to his eclectic lyrics, Bendt's sound combines elements of great
singer-songwriters, including Ryan Adams, Jeff Buckley, Ben Harper, Nick
Drake and Damien Rice, and the passionately soulful intimacy they brought to
every song. Chris Bendt strives to bring new light to new topics and at the
same time, showcase a sound that's highly relevant and full of soul. Joining
him will Luke Grey who has played here before both as a solo act and with
his band Tin Sprocket.

Lecture Series,

Haragano “May Day”

7pm to 9pm

Respected Pagan Elder Haragano will present the forth in a series of lectures entitled The Wheel of the Year.

The earliest May Day celebrations appeared in pre-Christian Europe, with the festival of Flora the Roman Goddess of flowers, the Walpurgis Night celebrations of the Germanic countries. It is also associated with the Gaelic Beltane. Many pre-Christian indigenous celebrations were eventually banned or Christianized during the process of Christianization in Europe. As a result, a more secular version of the holiday continued to be observed in the schools and churches of Europe well into the 20th century. In this form, May Day may be best known for its tradition of dancing the Maypole and crowning of the Queen of the May. Today various Neopagan groups celebrate reconstructed (to varying degrees) versions of these customs on 1 May.

The day was a traditional summer holiday in many pre-Christian European pagan cultures. While February 1 was the first day of Spring, May 1 was the first day of summer; hence, the summer solstice on June 25 (now June 21) was Midsummer. In the Roman Catholic tradition, May is observed as Mary's month, and in these circles May Day is usually a celebration of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In this connection, in works of art, school skits, and so forth, Mary's head will often be adorned with flowers. Fading in popularity since the late 20th century is the giving of "May baskets," small baskets of sweets and/or flowers, usually left anonymously on neighbours' doorsteps.

Whateverly Brothers "Homemade three layer harmonies with instrumental frosting!" The Brothers (Dan Roberts, Chris Glanister & Matthew Moeller) have performed for many years as solo artists and members of obscure folk groups across the Pacific Northwest. Now these three talents are together as the Whateverly Brothers. Drawing from a rich and varied musical history, The Whateverly Brothers harken to the folksinger tradition that "No musical style is sacred" Hoist anchor! Raise the glass! Sing along!

Watch the Sky! Has been a consistent presence in the Seattle area folk music scene since 1991. Jan and Chris Glanister and Joe Wagner bring Celtic verve to traditional, contemporary, and original ballads and pub songs. Rich, tight vocal harmonies are their trademark backed by driving rhythms and sweet whistle riffs. Joe's rock-influenced guitar playing brings a contemporary drive to their Celtic sound while Jan beats bodhran (Irish drum) and dumbec (Middle Eastern drum). Chris is on penny whistles and cittern. Singable music combined with their sense of humor pays off for the audience in a musical experience full of fun and warmth. Lead singers, Jan and Chris Glanister have been performing around the Pacific Northwest since 1980. Joe Wagner, lead guitarist, joined the band in 1992. Their collaboration results in fresh arrangements of traditional Celtic songs and original music appropriate for weddings, parties, pubs and concerts.

Boston Carter's Class/Discussion Group
7pm to 9pm
Boston has let me know that this class is now full, for more information of future classes please send an email to Boston at http://nowageknowlage.com/
